Sri Chinmoy, born Chinmoy Kumar Ghose on August 27, 1931, in the village of Shakpura, located in present-day Bangladesh, was a spiritual teacher, poet, artist, and athlete who became renowned for his teachings on meditation, inner peace, and self-transcendence. At an early age, Sri Chinmoy displayed a deep spiritual inclination, spending much of his childhood in prayer and meditation. He later moved to the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry, India, where he lived for over two decades under the guidance of the spiritual luminary Sri Aurobindo.
In 1964, Sri Chinmoy moved to New York City, where he began offering meditation classes and lectures, attracting a diverse group of seekers from various backgrounds. Over the years, his teachings gained widespread recognition, and he became known for his profound spiritual insights, his philosophy of self-transcendence, and his emphasis on the universal aspects of spirituality. Sri Chinmoy’s teachings were not confined to the realm of meditation; he also advocated for physical fitness and athletic endeavors as a means of self-transcendence and personal growth. He founded the Sri Chinmoy Marathon Team, which organized races around the world, including ultra-distance events and multi-day races, promoting the idea that the inner peace cultivated through meditation could be expressed and experienced through physical activity. Throughout his life, Sri Chinmoy composed thousands of poems, songs, and aphorisms, created countless artworks, and delivered numerous lectures and public talks, all with the aim of inspiring humanity to strive for higher ideals and a deeper connection with the divine. He passed away on October 11, 2007, leaving behind a rich legacy of spiritual wisdom and inspiration.

This secret each human being must discover for himself.
In his discovery lies his fulfilment.
