When I Meditate
When I Meditate
When I meditate
I want to levitate
But sadly to my cushion I gravitate
Although not to say I still do not celebrate
As meditation allows for other capacities to cultivate…
Why I Meditate
Proven from ancient time from date
Negative emotions erode and eliminate
Stress and tensions crumble and degenerate
By meditating, peace one starts to emulate
How I Meditate
Vigilantly I begin to concentrate
From there the consciousness begins to elevate
And once I start to meditate I can hope to try to contemplate.
I also simplify my outer life, not complicate.
Unnecessary things in my life I try to eliminate
Like schemes to make money propagate
Worrying about my credit card’s interest rate
Or getting caught up in properties or real estate...
Who I Meditate
Upon whom do I meditate?
To my own highest self I prostrate.
My teacher, Sri Chinmoy, too I appreciate
For my life’s boat he helps me navigate
Through the ignorance sea we freight
To the golden-shore promised to illuminate
Where I Meditate
In the corner of my room I create
An area that I use only to meditate
Which with pictures, flowers and incense I inundate
Then to the sanctuary of my heart I emulate
It’s peace and beauty that from within radiate
Sometimes I like to meditate in a group and sometimes myself I isolate
In a group it seems easier, as if in silence we all communicate
A silence so powerful it seems to reverberate and within us resonate.
