'Songs of the Soul' in Bangladesh

I have just returned from Bangladesh, what an incredible experience!

We went for a concert called 'Songs of the Soul' in Dhaka with Gandharva Loka Orcestra, comprised of musicians and singers fron 18 countries and joined with Surer Dhara, a Bangladesh music school lead by Rezwanna Choudhuri Bannya.  We became dear friends with everyone, the people there are so lovely and beautiful. We rehearsed for many days the compositions of great Bengali composers and peace lovers; Sri Chinmoy and Rabindranath Tagore. Finally on the 13th of December we had the privilege to perform to a capacity crowd, which was broadcasted live to 10,000,000 people in over 100 countries!

"Music has to play a most important role in bringing about world oneness for music is the connecting link between the One and the many and between the many and the One."

            - Sri Chinmoy

"We still believe that the world has a deeper meaning than what is apparent, and that therein the human soul finds its ultimate harmony and peace. We still know that only in spiritual wealth does civilization attain its end, not in a prolific production of materials, and not in the competition of intemperate power with power."

            - Rabindranath Tagore

Singing and playing soulful music has become an integral part of my meditation and I finish my morning meditations with a few of my favourite daily songs. Also for around half of my meditations I  play meditative music which I have found to be beneficial. Sri Chinmoy has composed over 13,000 Bengali songs and over 7.000 songs in English for meditation! I would imagine he is one of the most prolific composers of meditation music. For more information about Sri Chinmoy's music view any of the following websites
