Haiku in New York

This year I spent the summer in New York on what almost one could almost call a modern day pilgramage and resolved to keep a Haiku dairy, which I must admit was harder than I realised! This is what I started with...

I've got writers block
It's too heavy to build with
I will chizel it

Most of my time was spent in Queens, where my meditation teacher Sri Chinmoy lived for over 40 years. When I arrived, I helped my friend, long time meditator and endurance runner, Suprabha who ran 3100 miles for the 13th year!(thats 5000kms!) I also meditated daily at 'Aspiration-Ground', a beautiful garden which once served as Sri Chinmoy's tennis court and is now a like a sanctuary for meditation.

At the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race...

Thirtyone hundred
The minds staggering distance
The hearts voyage thrill

Seekers pilgrimage
Athletes endaring venture
Divinities pride

Before Suprabha's finish...

The end is nearing
The journey reveals the goal-
Eternities Road

At Aspiration-Ground...

Aspiration-Ground
Seekers soulful pilgrimage
To beautys heart-land

In meditation
The past and present dissolve
Only this second

In meditation
Soaring in the vastness blue
Remaining seated

Remembering Sri Chinmoy...

Secret and sacred
Secredly and sacredly
His footsteps resound

Flying home...

Flying on the plane
I'm watching movies again
Lord do keep me sane

Dust forms on pages
Chapters locked and imprisoned
A turning page frees
