Aspiration-Ground

Aspiration-Ground began as Sri Chinmoy's tennis court, surrounded by bleachers, near his home in Queens, New York. Through the years, however it has evolved into a sacred ground, used by thousands of Sri Chinmoy's students and friends, to pray and meditate.

'Twas once a tennis court of clay
Where footsteps could be traced,
'Tis now where aspirants come to pray
And court markings since erased...

Stepping through the gate
Laced with deep green vines,
A secret world awaits
Beyong the grips of time.

Surrounded by flowers and leaves
A humble temple is poised.
Upon the Grandmother trees,
Animals make their sweet noise.

Within the temple doors is there
A Mother Kali statue,
Sri Chinmoy's table and chair
And a presence of loving gratitude.

Beyond the temple steps
Is the 'Maha Samadhi',
Where Sri Chinmoys body rests
But unbounded his soul lives free
