This week Sri Chinmoy offers a simple but very effective meditation exercise – a visualisation on purifying white light.

Sri Chinmoy's words:

Please try to feel a white column coming up from your heart centre. Imagine that this white column of light has pierced the top of your head and is stationed three inches above you. Now you can start meditating. After a while try to feel that you are nothing other than that light. Feel that it is absolutely your own existence. When you feel it as your own existence, all your problems will be unmistakably solved. (Source)

Question: What is the significance of the white light which I sometimes see when I meditate?
Sri Chinmoy: White light is the light of divine purity, infinite purity. It is also the light of the Divine Mother. God is both Father and Mother; He is our Eternal Father and He is our Eternal Mother. When God wants to express His Divinity in the feminine aspect, He uses white light. When he sees white light, the seeker can rest assured that he has established an inner connection with God the Universal Mother. (Source)
